It is hard to put a definitive phrase upon one miracle over another, but it seems likely that no other miracle has had a more profound impact upon our world than that one occurring at the birth of Jesus Christ nearly 2000 years ago.
I am aware of other great and significant miracles. However, had this one not occurred many of those subsequent miracles could never have happened and would never have occurred.
Nothing has impacted our world as deeply as that event occurring on the Night of Miracles when Christ was born.
Too often we think of that event as being singular but in reality, there were a whole number of miracles which occurred that night.
That night shepherds were tending their flock of sheep on the hillsides near Bethlehem. I can imagine the quietness that was there as the sheep had settled down and deep thoughts going through the minds of those shepherds as they reflected on that day and possibly their life. Then the quietness was shattered, and the darkness gave way to light as the Angels appeared in the sky singing and proclaiming the birth of the Savior and Redeemer of all mankind. Wow! What a night!

Then in a lonely stable, because there was no room in the inn, a young mother named Mary that God had smiled upon and chosen to be the one to bring Jesus into this world, gave birth to the Son of God. In the still of the night with the animals in the stable along with Joseph, the devout husband the quietness of the night had the sound of happiness and joy.
Every year people around the world will be celebrating Christmas. Some people have lost that true meaning of Christmas. They are caught up in the commercialization of this event. Some people will end up in debt after they purchase all their gifts that are to be given. After all the money is spent the emptiness in their soul still lingers.
Others will look for what is called “The Magic of Christmas”. This is when the moment of being reunited with loved ones that have been estranged from their family and loved ones happens. To some the “Magic of Christmas” is to find that person and have the love flame to spark in their hearts with the person that is meant for their lifetime partner and they live happily ever after.
Then there will be those who isolate themselves from everybody because of deep sorrow in their soul. They will try to drown this sorrow through excess alcohol drinks. They will wake up the next day still lonely and empty.
Many people have suffered losses of spouses and some even have lost their children tragically. There is no reason for many to feel a spirit of celebration. No decorations or lights because their reason for life has been snatched from them.
There is the “Miracle of Christmas” where true love and peace heal the hurting souls of men and women. It is the “Healing Balm of Gilead” that reaches into the deepest crevices of the soul and soothes the hurt and actually brings health to that sick and lonely soul.
I want to encourage those of you who are lonely and feel dejected and isolated from everything and those you love and those of you who have suffered losses. Let Jesus who is the “Lover of Your Soul” embrace you and give you the assurance that He is ever present with you. Let Him prove His love to you. Open your heart to Him and allow His presence to be felt. There is no love like the Savior’s love. When you allow this to happen you will find that you have the capacity to love others like Christ loves you.
Let this be a year where you reach out to others who are in the condition you are. Don’t reach out to find someone to share in self-pity with but let the “Miracle of Christmas” take place. Allow the true joy and peace become real for you and others once again.
God loves you and extends His Grace to you. He accepts you and makes you accepted in His family.
I say MERRY CHRISTMAS to all my friends and family and to all who read this article who need a friend. I will be your friend and I pray that this Christmas be one of "Miracles" for you.
Abundant Blessings to you all,
Clarence & Pat Dalrymple
